Adding new Channels
Hostaway supports a large number of world wide used sales channels that you can use to get more bookings. Every channel has it’s own way of working and with Hostaway we combine these as much as possible for you so you can manage them easier. There are in general 3 types of channel connections.
API / scraping connected channels
These channels allow you to have a direct connection between your Hostaway software and the channel. Due to this connection it will synchronize the reservation way faster then by iCal. For example a booking sync by iCal between Airbnb and Booking.com may take up 6 -8 hours. By Api it get’s synced between 5-20 minutes depending on the amount of channels connected.
Only API connected channels are able to accept rate, los and sometimes content updates. For most API connected channels it will require you to add some login details by secure connection or request the channel manager function on the platform first.
iCal connected channels
Some channels don’t have or offer API connections yet. In those cases you can still sync your reservations by iCal links. When you activate one of these channels you need to export the Hostaway iCal for that listing to the channels calendar. Next you need to find the channels iCal export link and import it in to Hostaway.
For most iCal channels your Hostaway account will import the iCal link every 30 min to see if there is a new reservation. It is up to the iCal channel to decide when to import the Hostaway iCal link to there platforms. Some channels will also do this every 30 minutes some only 1 or 2 times a day. Hostaway support can’t tell you if or when a channel imported the iCal or if it is synced correctly.
1 way API or iCal channels
Some channels are not ready yet to have a 2 way connection. These channels are normally only offering a 1 way import by iCal and sometimes by API. You can use the listings iCal link to export your reservation to these channels and then manually add any reservation coming from one of these channels as direct booking.
The Hostaway channel manager software allows you to quickly setup your own connections for most channels. In some cases the connection needs a verification by one of the Hostaway team members first. For detailed descriptions how each channel works have a look at the individual channel pages.
Some API connected channels demands us to only connect property managers with 5 or more properties. If this is the case for the channel it will show you this message in the dashboard. We do not have any control over this and advice you to partner up with someone in your region in one account and try subscription again when you have at least 5 or more properties.
